    Bernard Bloch Austrian Cigar Pipe Holder Gnomes Textured Salt Glaze Art Pottery
    Outstanding early art pottery piece!
    Depicts two working Gnomes taking, what looks to be, a break from work to eat and, since this is a smoking piece, I would assume to relax and smoke.
    There is a pipe stand area one one side, a small bowl for matches or ash on the other and a large compartment in the center to store cigars and/or tobacco
    To the best of my knowledge from research and the marking on bottom, I believe this to be an authentic Bernard Bloch of Austria collectible art pottery piece.  I could not find another like it but did find some with similar finish and material as well as identical markings except the number difference.

    I believe this is considered yellow ware but he also did pieces in terracotta (but seems a little heavy for this material).
    The date of this would be somewhere between the late 1800s, early 1900s (again, this is a guess based on other pieces and their dates)
    Condition;  Considering the age, this piece is in excellent antique condition!  However, it does have some character flaws such as a missing toe of one foot on the eating Gnome (on the right as you are looking at it); a tiny fleck of missing rock texture about 1" to the left of the left side gnome; when turned upside down, there are some sliver chips around one corner and a couple flea bites on another (this is not noticeable from the top). There also is crazing.
