OFFERS WELCOME! E. F. Caldwell Silver Cigar Rest With Match Holder Circa 1925

REASONABLE OFFERS ALWAYS WELCOME!
Describing this as "silver" might be overly generous....it once was silver for sure but several generations of cigar smokers placing their smokes in the large receiving tray, perhaps on occasion softly stroking the featured putti (who am I to judge?) and the many cleanings that were undoubtedly carried out by the servants have reduced the silver content and revealed the copper beneath. Still it is a beautiful thing and the putti on the match box holder have grapes, symbolizing wine. Fully signed on the underside "E. F. Caldwell & Co Inc. New York". This piece is probably circa 1925. Base is almost 7" across. Once had a felt covering on the underside which explains the strange circular marks made to help hold the glued on felt better.
