Vajra Sandalwood, Sacred Aroma, Meditation and Juniper Berry Rope Incense

Description

This is a traditional Newari incense called Dhupaya. It is made traditionally using many precious Aromatic Himalayan Herbs. The finely powdered form of the herbs are wrapped in the thin strip of Lokta Paper and twined forming a knotting stick.
The smoke coming out of the rope incense is believed to attract gods and hence it has been used extensively in the religious field both by Hindus and Buddhist.
Burning incense is an important ritual in all major Hindu and Buddhist traditions, but the purpose and symbolism of incense are slightly different for each tradition. In Buddhism, incense acts as an offering to Buddhas, or enlightened ones, as well as a symbol for various aspects of Buddhist belief and an aid to positive thoughts and actions.
